Template Warrior with axe - XIII Century The Templar Knight of the 13th Century wore the traditional garment of the Order, a plain white tunic with a red cross. The Order did not allow the display of personal emblems or motifs on the shields or garments and recommended that the brother knights observed the monastic teachings and rigor of the Order, refraining from wearing brightly coloured belts or buckles made from precious metals. The templar knights outer dress had to reflect their inner umility uncontaminated spirituality dedicating their military lives to Christ. The “young” knights would wear green garments their cloacks of cloth lined in squirrell fur or petit-gris, alternating the skins in mosaic patterns with the bellies in light colour and the back in grey-blue. Our knight figure is armed with an axe as common in the mid XIII century. It can be painted in the modeller’s choice of colours, either as a Templar Knight, Crusader in the holy Land or as a Noble Western European Secular Knight.
