In the year 1941, while the German troops razed Europe, the efforts of United States by creating a new generation of tanks he/she/it/you became obsession. The result was the M4 Sherman, one of the main responsible of the victories of the allied forces. The previous generation of medium tanks M3 had a system of VVSS suspension (Vertical Volute Spring Suspension) and a potent motor of airplane, but I/he/she/it/you had important inconveniences like the rotation limited of the canyon. In order to accelerate the production, the prototype of the M4 used the chassis modified of the M3, and the production in series began in October of 1941. The production reached more and more high stops, because several houses manufactured several versions at the same time. The first model was called M4A1, with their characteristic rounded helmet. Between February of 1942 and December of 1943, they took place a total of 6,281 tanks M4A1. This tank had a canyon of 75mm M3, and was equipped with a Continental motor R975-C1 radial of gasoline of 350cv refrigerated by air. The speed maxim that could reach was of 38,6km/ h. The first versions had a canyon M34 protected by some fine badges, later on the crankcase of 3 pieces modified for one [monobloque]. Normally they were added badges of [blindaje] in the superior helmet and the turret, so that the protection out old. The M4A1 served with many armies in the most diverse fronts; between them with the 8º British Army in the North of ífrica, where he/she/it/you was crucial for the victory in The Alamein.
