MK I "Male" British Tank

The Mark I was a British tank used during the First World War. It can be considered the first tank operating in the world. The Mark I was in two distinct versions , one version " Male" , equipped with guns , and "Female " version ( Female ) with only machine guns. The Mark I went into action during the Battle of the Somme. On the first day of the battle , it is proving very costly in human lives. General Haig , seeing its reserves fall, then decided to use a new weapon, the tank Mark I. On September 15, 1916, Tank D1 arrives alone at the height of German trenches (the other 2 tanks which were the accompany being broke down ) and spread terror among the enemy before being knocked out by artillery . Attack of the other tanks during the day will often so confused and many of them will fail or be destroyed by German guns. The loophole that would allow the cavalry to break through the German lines will ultimately not open and we can say that this first commitment therefore end on a strategic setback . However, the psychological effect remain undeniable.
